Frequently Asked Questions

Are all meal replacements the same?

Many people are confused about Meal Replacements because they think that they are the same as “Diet Shakes” or “High Protein Powders” or “Low carb Powders” or “Muscle Building Powders” etc. but they are not the same!

Meal Replacements must meet stringent criteria – standard 2.9.3 of the Australian New Zealand Food Standards Code.

Dr Cabot has formulated QuickLoss to balance carbohydrates and protein for healthy weight loss. Meal Replacements must provide 25% of the RDI of vitamins and minerals per serve. Thus if you use a real meal replacement whilst trying to lose weight, you cannot develop nutritional deficiencies.

Can I drink alcohol while following the QuickLoss Program?

It is best to avoid alcoholic drinks that are high in sugar – these include wines, beer, champagne, sweet liqueurs and alcoholic drinks mixed with sweet soft drinks.  Choose a low carb alcoholic drink; this can be made with a clear dry spirit (such as vodka, gin, brandy, rum, whisky or scotch). Add water (still, mineral or sparkling) and fresh lime/lemon juice and stevia to sweeten if desired. Excess alcohol of any type will put a strain on your liver and lead to easy weight gain – so restrict your intake to 3-4 units per week.

Can I use an extra protein shake?

It depends on what is in the shake and it is important to use only very low carb protein shakes. Some protein shakes have artificial flavours or are too high in sugar. The lowest carbohydrate protein snack is Dr Cabot’s Synd-X Slimming Protein Powder. Synd-X is very high in first class protein (80.9% by weight) and is extremely low in carbs (less than 2 grams per serve). Thus you can use Synd-X powder as a non fattening snack. Mix it in unsweetened milk, sprinkle it over fruit salad, stir it into plain yoghurt or you can even make ice-cream out of Synd-X powder by blending it with equal amounts of dairy cream, coconut cream and berries – yum!

Will QuickLoss help me get my food cravings under control?

QuickLoss contains Tyrosine, an amino acid helpful in suppressing the appetite, reducing body fat and is vital for the proper functioning of the thyroid gland.  Tyrosine may assist in food addiction, stress management, mental fatigue, anxiety and depression.
